An old friend.

I ran into this guitar back on Sunday afternoon.  I call them old friends because after owning them and knowing them you feel a relationship has developed.  This particular guitar was the first custom made instrument I'd ever ordered.  Tonally and visually I spared no expense.  It delivered the tone I wanted and was exactly how I'd envisioned it in my mind.  I had to sell it to fund my daughter's birthday and pay bills.  Sad isn't it?  I was pretty crappy as a dad.  My ex wasn't the greatest at saving money either.  This guitar was just the first in a trend of financial ups and downs.  When we were up, we could afford 2 or 3 guitars for me.  I was selfish and that was my weakness.  Then when we were down, I'd go pawn them to pay for things like gifts, groceries, and bills.  There were only 2 guitars that I feel "got away" and this is one.  This one hurt the most because I put very thing I had into it and it delivered in spades.  The guy I sold it to still has it and invited me down to Modesto to give it a spin.  It felt familiar.  I miss it, and it has sentimental value for sure.  But they are just guitars.  My hands have the talent.  The tone within them is what makes the difference.  Maybe one day I'll get into something a little more akin to my preferred taste.  Till then the Ric 330 is chiming just fine.

The other one that got away was a USA Jackson SL-1 in Amber burst.  Perfection in every way!

Meanwhile.....in the South.....

While I'm stuck out our in California, here's what's going on in their part of the world.

Best day.

My oldest daughter said today was one of the best days of her life.  What prompts a kid to say that?  I can't remember specifics about that age like I can for the teen years.  I felt glad to make that happen with her.  Nothing extravagant just quality time.  Just simple quality time.  What a concept huh?
